This 39 mile route passes through long stretches of open countryside and many picturesque villages. As the route is primarily on roads it is suitable for all types of bike.
The route has some moderate climbing but equally there are many stretches of very pleasant undulating quiet roads. As the route is primarily on roads it is suitable for all types of bike.
The ride starts at Trencherfield Mill and climbs out of Wigan along the A49 through Standish. From here it’s onwards to Parbold via Wrightington, High Moor and Bannister Lane.

At this point the route follows the Lancashire Cycleway through Sollum and Bretherton before a tea/coffee stop at the Twin Lakes Velo Café in Croston.
The route then passes through very pleasant and quiet countryside along Grapes Lane, Sydbrook Lane, Tannersmith Lane, Halfpenny Lane, Barmskin Lane, Smithy Brow and finally Church Lane to get to Wrightington Bar. From here it is a run along Mossy Lea Road, Pepper Lane and into Standish for the final drop back into Wigan
