Puddles and flooded roads were no match for 6 intrepid riders today. The Charismatic Cheshire ride initially took us along a rather soggy Trans Pennine Trail, ensuring that everyone would be having to clean their bikes tonight. We rode for a short while along the Tour of Britain final stage route and passed kilometre zero before turning off towards Tatton Park. Lunch was taken at the Courtyard Cafe in Knutsford with its exhibition of Penny Farthings and other cycling memorabilia. After refreshments it was onward to Tabley, where we sheltered at the underpass whilst some of our number put on rain ware, only to regretted it after a further mile or so! It was onward to Arley Hall via the main drive, which seemed even harder than usual because of a strong head/cross wind. Our return journey to Lymm took us along some lanes that the riders had not encountered before, but we ended up on the familiar cobbles of Pepper Street to get us back into Lymm Village Centre. Despite it being an almost dry ride, (no rain that is), there were quite a few places where we were struggling to keep our feet dry!
